Our first 14 hole competition of the season was held at the weekend and with placing everywhere scoring was good. Peter Ryan Snr (22) won on a breakdown from Ollie McDonagh (8) both having 33 points. Sean o Dea (23) came in third with 32 points, again on a breakdown. Next weekend will be the same 14 holes and is week 1 of the Winter League.

Ladies results 7/11/21 – 1st Ann Treacy 32 pts.

The Captains’ Driveout
The captains’ driveout on Sunday 7th November saw a full car park, a crowded golf course , and real buzz in the clubhouse afterwards, as our members flocked to thank Gerry and Ann for the huge amount of time and effort they put in over the last two covid stricken years, leaving the club in a far healthier state. Winners of the front nine were Mairead Lynch, Sheila Stone, and incoming captain Ivan Mooney. The back nine winners were Anita o Neill, Brian Flesk, and John Stevens.

Ladies 8 hole Wednesday competition 1st Ann Higgins 21 pts.

Saturday Club
The Saturday Club at Tuam Golf Club kicked off the new season under the fine Captaincy of Mark Curley last weekend in rather difficult weather conditions but there was still a reasonable turnout.
Pride of place went to Gerry Bodkin who came in with 31 points for 14 holes which was a great return given that the course was not forgiving and playing particularly long.
Result (14 holes): 1st, Gerry Bodkin (21) 31; 2nd, Liam Blake (43) 30; 3rd, Kevin Scully (22) 29; 4th, Vincent Ryder (21) 28. Bottles: Gerry King, Mark Curley and Rae Gilmore.

Next outing will also be 14 holes and Saturday Club members are encouraged to also play the weekend club competition, which is also 14 holes.
