Saturday Club
The final outing of the season took place at Galway Bay Golf and Country Club where Bernard Brady emerged the winner in tough playing conditions as the course was set up extremely long. But it was a great day as the weather held up and almost 50 members competed.
Bernard edged out Declan King, who blanked the 18th, and Damien Coyne, who also experienced a tough finish, to take top honours.
It was great to see the Captain of Tuam Golf Club Mark Curley and President Michael Cullen participating in the event. They said that they thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
Thanks to Tom McHugh for organising the tee times in Galway Bay and to John Bodkin for his massive contribution on the day. When the Saturday Club resumes next October, it will be headed by PJ Murphy who is a former Captain of Tuam Golf Club. It will be in a safe pair of hands.
A special thanks to all of the members who turned out for the occasion and also to the Galway Bay club for making the course available in difficult weather conditions. It proved to be an extremely successful outing and we look forward to a similar event this time next year.
