Congratulations to the AIG Jimmy Bruen team, captained by Damien Coyne on winning the Connacht final in Roscommon on Sunday. They beat the reigning holders Castlebar on Saturday in the semi final and had a very tight final with the deciding match winning on the 20th hole. The All Ireland finals are in Thurles GC in early October. A big thank you to Tomas Niland for his coaching and his regular match updates on social media.
The junior golfers had set the markers high by winning the inaugural Irish Boys U18 interclub Championships in Roscommon on Friday, in doing so, Tuam retained the Kenny Cup. Congrats to Oisin Roche, Ciaran McGrath, Rory Donnellan, Adam Carton and Eanna Costello .
The AIG Jimmy Bruen Pennant will be presented after the Captains Scramble on Friday night.

All four of the club matchplay competitions are about to reach the semifinal stage. Already through to the singles semi are Ben Carty and David Burke The mixed foresomes semi- finalists are Darren O’Connor & Maureen Donnelly V Neilus Buckley & Breege Finnerty and Jimmy McHugh & Shona Hendrick V Pat & Mary Casey. Mìchael Maloney & Louis Conway have cruised into the foresomes semis and are hoping to make the fourball semi later this week. The remaining matches are to be played this week and it is hoped to have all four finals on September 15.

Next weekend August 18th/19th is second major of the Season, Mr.Mark Curley’s Captains Prize.The draw will be made on Thursday the 16th of August at 7pm. The entry sheet is now up on the noticeboard. Please put your name down at your preferred time slot. Competition Format : It will be a 18 Hole Stableford qualifier with 27 and ties to qualify for the Final Nine. The Final Nine will be Holes 10-18 and it will be Stableford. Top 3 Gross scores will also qualify to play for the Gross prize if not already qualified. Final 9 playoff will commence at 5.30pm – qualifiers or potential qualifiers must be available to tee off at this time.

The Captains scramble will be a shot gun start at 6.30pm on Friday. Following on the success of the previous ‘Nine & Dine’ this is an option. Please put your name on the sheet in the hall ( for catering purposes) if you are interested in this.
